mustaches for kids

The mustache movement has spread to Wake Forest University.  It began on April 1, 2008.  For four weeks members of the Wake Forest community will compete to grow the best mustache - and in the process, raise money for a good cause.  This year’s cause is the Nothing But Nets (www.nothingbutnets.net) campaign, a program that helps saves lives by distributing mosquito netting to fight malaria in Africa.

The ‘Stache Bash was a stunning success no matter how success is defined.  Growers came dressed to win in costumes ranging from an inflatable farmer’s outfit to Mario and Luigi.  We had two distinguished judges each with an impressive mustache pedigree (one a Grower since ’71 and the other a third generation Grower).  But most importantly, we raised over $7,000 in the battle against malaria for the Nothing But Nets campaign (and it is not too late to donate!).  More pictures to come from the ‘Stache Bash.  Thank you to all of those who made this possible - donors, judges, supporters, significant others, and most of all - the Growers.

A champion is crowned!!!
